Ondo gov’s wife wants quick justice for inmates awaiting trials

The wife of the Ondo state governor, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, on Tuesday tasked the judiciary to disperse justice as soon as possible In order to vindicate innocence citizens and guide against false accusation in the course of justice across the country.

Mrs. Akeredolu spoke while distributing some relief materials to the Nigeria Prison Service (NPF) in Owo.

She told the inmates to maintain good orientation and attitude of a behaviourial change in their stay at the custody.

The materials donated to the prison, Mrs. Akeredolu said, were procured through the support of the 2017 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration committee in the state.

She also described the donation as a show of concern and love to the inmates while calling on the stakeholders to assist in rehabilitating Nigeria prisons.

The representative of the chairman, 2017 IWD committee in the state, Mrs. Titi Adeyemi, said the initiative is borne out of the desire of the wife of the governor to care for several people who are in need across the state.

Responding, the representative of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS), Mr. Adedeji Adekunle, said the donation and gesture by the governor’s wife is unexpected and really amazing stating that the materials will go a long way in assisting the prison in putting smiles on the faces of the inmates.

Some of the items donated included mattresses, pillows, foodstuff, first aid boxes, ingredients, mosquito nets, toiletries, among others.
