Okpoko community vows to vote Obiano

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano, on Political Matters, Comrade Arinze Awogu, has warned the residents of Okpoko community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state of the danger of voting those who burnt the state in the past.

Awogu who spoke while addressing Okpoko community in Okpoko said if the people vote arsonists, Borno state would be far better than Anambra state, saying that they were elated that the generals in Okpoko are on one side now for the Governor .

He said “we must reach nooks and crannies of Okpoko to spread the good news about Governor Willie Obiano. Select 10 persons from each street who will carry this message. There is a new sheriff in town, there is clear departure from the old. If you have been denied anything , they would be given to you now”

Arinze also warned the Okpoko people not to support their enemies, because if they support them, their situation would be worse, saying “don’t disappoint us. Support Obiano in November 18 election” He noted that Okpoko with 54 polling booths and 34,000 voters is the highest in the state. Arinze said the governor had responded to their request by appointing a number of aides from the community, such as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Community Mobilisation among others.

He also said the Governor has approved to work on five critical roads in Okpoko immediately the rain cease as well as replace their security vehicle to stop the criminality taking place in Okpoko now. Awogu also promised that the law will take its full course over the alleged killing of one of the security operatives in Okpoko, Mr. Friday Nwankwo.

“Some have ran away but the long arm of the law will still catch them. They abducted a sitting councilor and was taking him to zone 9 Police Command when we affected his release. We are behind you solidly. The new president- general is a father. He will restore peace in Okpoho. He should also accommodate everybody. Your traditional ruler is a peace loving man” said the Senior Special Assistant.

He said that power has been restored to Okpoko people through the restoration of Eddie Emesinwa led executive by the Court and as a government that solidly believes in the rule of law, they will always be behind the new Okpono President – general and his executive.

In his response Emesinwa pledged the loyalty of the new executive and the entire Okpoko community, assuring that they will vote Obiano in November 18 governorship election.

He said that grace has returned to Okpoko and all those ugly incidents of vandalisation, intimidation, extortion will not happen again.

Emesinwa urged the people of Okpoko to thread softly because the corpse of Nwankwo was still in morgue and any slightest provocation can spark – off riot, nothing that there is now a security network in Okpoko to protect lives and property of the residents.

“Report any suspicious character around, taking of illicit drug and marijuana has been banned in Okpoko. Those who are hell-bent on being criminals should live Okpoko. If your child is a criminal, ask him to live Okpoko because this community cannot accomidate us with him” said Emesinwa.
