Okorocha's Free Education Counter-Productive – Ihenacho

Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Capt Emmanuel Ihenacho has described the free education programme of governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s administration as counterproductive to the state.

Speaking through his running mate Ikesi Ibe in a function in Abuja recently, Capt Ihenacho said governor Okorocha has succeeded in messing up the standard of education in Imo state with the introduction of half-baked free education.

The APGA candidate disclosed that the state was taking first in WAEC but since the introduction of the free education under Okorocha’s administration the state is placed 34th.

He said when voted into office, his administration would not only introduce free education but will make sure the state enjoys free and qualitative education.

He also lamented that Imo state University was ranked ninth in the country before Okorocha came to power but regretted that the University is ranked 72 in, which confirms that all is not well with the state’s free education policy.

In a related development, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha reaffirmed his move to rescue the state from stronghold of governor Okorocha adding that the PDP has all it takes to restore good governance in Imo state.

Meanwhile, president general of Imo Community Abuja, Chief Ike Obasi has assured all candidates of Imo state origin of equal support from the body adding that as a non political association, the body has not adopted any candidate and has no intentions to do so.
