Obasanjo, Osifeso for Ota Police Area Commander’s football championship

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Chairman of Mapcotec Nigeria Limited, Surveyor (Dr.) Segun Osifeso, will on Wednessday kick off the second edition of the annual Ota Police Area Commander’s football championship at the Nigeria Distilleries Limited (NDL) Ota, Ogun State sports ground.
According to the organisers, AYSON Promotions, the competition will feature twelve teams from the twelve Police Divisional headquaters under the Ota Police Area command.
President of AYSON Promotions, High Chief Hassan Abolade, said in a statement that all arrangements have been made to ensure the success of the competition, stressing that the finals of the championship will hold at the NDL sports ground on May 19.
He stated that as part of the activities lined up for the opening ceremony, a novelty match between members of the Police- Community Relations Committee (PCRC) of the Ota Police Area command and Iloye Area Community Developmen Committe (CDC) would be held before the opening match between last year’s winners, Itele Police Divisional headquarters and the first runners-up, Ado-Odo/Ota Police Divisional headquarters.
Abolade said, “The annual Ota Police Area Commander’s football championship is being organised in order to improve the skills of men and officers of the command, promote good relations and mutual understanding between the Police and members of the Communities under the Area Command and also as part of the organisation’s contribution towards the growth of sport in Nigeria.
He further added that there would be prizes to be won by the winning teams, while some good talents identify in the course of the championship would help form part of both the Nigeria Police and the naton’s future soccer team
Surveyor (Dr) Segun Osifeso, who was a special guest at the draws, commended the Area commander, Ota Police Area Command, Mr. Fayoade Adegoke, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), and the organisers, AYSON Promotions, for investing in the men and officers of the Nigeria Police with the annual championship, noting that the country was blessed with talented footballers, who needed just a little support to excel and competitions such as the Ota Police Area Commander’s football championship was apt as it was discover more talent.
