Nzelu, Abuja Legal Luminary Backs Obiano for 2nd term

An Abuja- based legal luminary,Chief Amobi Nzelu, has thrown his weight behind Governor Wllie Obiano’s second term bid as the Governor has done enough to merit him second tenure.

Nzelu who spoke in his country home, Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra state, pointed out that he is not a politician neither has he held any political appointment or done government contract but as a stakeholder in the state and a realist, Obiano has done well to go for second term.

Nzelu said Obiano has sold himself to the people of the state by what he has been doing since he assumed power three years ago, saying that since Obiano came to power, he has been free to come home especially when he has cases in the South East because there is security unlike before.

He said Governor Obiano has put massive infrastructure in the State, paid salaries of the State workers as as when due, apart from making Anambra the safest State in the country.

“I know election is coming. I do not do politics but I am a realist. Obiano has sold himself to the people. I don’t believe in masquerading or promissory note politicians. What he has put on the ground justifies his second tenure. APC cannot transfer their oligarchy to Anambra state,” said Nzelu.

Nzelu who has been practicing law for the past 37 years and represented Apo Six during the Tribunal of Inquiry set up by the Federal Government to unravel their killers, said he has refused to make any comment on the judgment on Apo Six which the principal accuse was let off the hook because he was not the prosecutor during the trial.

He said with the judgment the matter has come to an end and it should be left to rest but one thing was clear “any hand that shed blood will not go unpunished”.

Reacting to the ultimatum by the Northern youths on Ndigbo to quit Northern States by October1, 2017, Nzelu said Ndigbo should not take the threat for granted.

“No matter the situation, they are talking from somewhere. The meeting was held in Arewa House, the North’s official meeting place. Northern leaders cannot pretend that they don’t know what those youths were saying. Igbos should not relax. We should be on the alert, so that what happened in 1960 should not repeat itself,” he warned.

The legal practitioner called on the Federal Government to fish out the culprits and prosecute them, if not the threat still remained there . “The so -called youths are knowledgeable persons . They are not as young as we think they are,” he said.
