My nutmeg on Pogba the ‘funniest’ thing – Mikel

The Blues midfielder has spoken of his joy of rediscovering the video in which he embarrassed the Manchester United midfielder, while on international duty

The £93 million midfielder was caught with his legs open as Mikel performed an audacious backheeled pass to his team-mate, but Pogba had the last laugh as France beat Nigeria 2-0 to eliminate them from the 2014 World Cup at the last-16 stage.

The Nigeria captain admitted that he finds the expression on Pogba’s face hilarious in the viral clip.

“I saw the video again and what made me put it up was his face when the ball went through his legs. It was the funniest thing,” Mikel laughed. “He will probably try to nutmeg me back! One each!

“He is a great talent – it takes the whole team to stop such a player. He has improved quite a lot and become a much much better player. If we come across each other again, I hope can both have a great game and may the best man win.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea will welcome Jose Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge as the United manager on Sunday after he was sacked when the Blues were left only one point above the relegation zone last December.

Mikel maintains he has a good relationship with his former boss, who controversially signed him from under the noses of the Old Trafford side in 2006, and thinks that Pogba will go onto achieve great things with Mourinho at United.

“I met Pogba after the game against France and he is a lovely guy,” he added. “He is a lovely human being. Today he is the world’s most expensive football player and he has worked hard since he left Man United and went to Juve. He had a great, great career back at Juventus.

“Now, he is back at United and says that he is back where he belongs, that is his home. He looks like he missed Man United, the way he plays, the way he presents himself. I think he is a great talent who will one day win the Ballon d’Or.”
