NTDC, INTERPOL partner on security for hospitality industry

The International Criminal Police (INTERPOL) has entered into a partnership arrangement to curb criminality in the nation’s hotels.
The deal was sealed when INTERPOL paid a courtesy call on the Acting Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Dr. Paul Adalikwu, at the Corporation’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the visit, the security agency presented to the NTDC boss, the All Travellers Information System (ATIS), a platform to check criminals who lodge in hotels in the country.
The Commissioner of Police, Olushola Subair, who led the INTERPOL team, in his speech disclosed the intention of the agency to partner with NTDC, adding that it was geared towards making Nigeria considerably crime free and a safe haven for tourism to thrive.
“We are here for a good partnership with NTDC, which deals with tourists, travel and hospitality industries, to ensure Nigeria is safe, with extremely low level of criminality,” Subair said.
Adalikwu in his speech, said the partnership between the Corporation and INTERPOL is a welcome idea and one of the cardinal objective of the President Buhari led-administration to elicit confidence and trust in the industry and tourists who visit the country, whilst creating an enabling environment for hospitality businesses to grow.
The NTDC boss added that the partnership with the world’s largest security organization, with 190 member countries, would project Nigeria as a security-conscious nation and a preferred tourist destination of choice.
He also assured the INTERPOL of the Corporation’s commendation and willingness to partner with it in the newly launched All Travellers Information System (ATIS), saying, “it is quite commendable, because it will go a long way in sanitizing the Nigerian hospitality industry, particularly as it affects hotels and other related businesses.”
