NSCDC trains 500 personnel on fire arm

No fewer than 500 personnel of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), were trained on professional handling of fire arms aimed at sustaining the survival of democracy and security, the Commandant NSCDC Plateau State Command, Solomon A. Olasupo, has said.
Olasupo stated that the 500 personnel were drawn from the 1,500 officers and men of the Corps mandated by the National Command to be trained on arms handling in 2017.
Speaking at the occasion of the passing out parade in Jos, the Corps Commandant reiterated that the effort becomes necessary as democracy cannot survive in an environment of riot, disorder, revolt, strikes, religious unrest, political gangsterism and interparty squabbles.
His words, “the survival of our democratic development cannot be attained in a situation of economic saboteurs and vandals; it is as a result of this that the corps is hell bent in eliminating or put a final stop to power transmission lines and oil pipeline vandalism rampant in our country.
“The corps is poised to expose any form of corruption inimical to growth and development in the country,” he said.
He charged the trained personnel not to violet the basic safety rules relating to or concerning arms handling, saying that all laid down and approved standard operating procedures which are necessary for the effective handling and usage or application of arms shall be duly adhered to.
In his part, state governor, Mr. Simon Lalong, commended the effort of the Command, charging them to master their weapons, adding that The weapons should not be used to harass innocent citizens.
Represented by the Coordinator of the state owned security outfit, Operation Rainbow, Major General Steven Goa’r, the governor said the weapons would be used to tackle insecurity in the state and the country at large.
