NSCDC resolves 4,000 cases in Borno

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Borno on Sunday said that it resolved 4,000 civil cases between January and May 2017.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Ibrahim Abdullahi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri that the command also recovered N50 million while intervening in the cases.
He said while 9,000 civil cases involving inheritance, marital issues, land scam, employment scams, debts and breaking of promises were brought, the command was able to resolve 4,000.
“The NSCDC has been mandated by law with the powers to arrange and mediate in the settlement of disputes among willing members of the public.
“It was in line with this statutory mandate that the Borno Command commissioned its “Peace Clinic” in line with Section 3(u)(vi) of the NSCDC Amended Act of 2007,’’ he said.
He said the cases were handled by the combined efforts of some units in the command.
Abdullahi said that the corps would continue to play significant roles in peace building in the state.
