NSCDC inaugurates Covid 19 isolation in Enugu

The Nigeria Security Civil and Defence Corps, NSCDC, has inaugurated Coronavirus isolation centre for suspected cases of the virus in Enugu.

Commissioning the centre, Enugu state commandant of the NSCDC, Everastius Obiyo revealed that the centre has one hundred and fifty bed spaces.

Commissioning the centre on Thursday at the NSCDC Training School Achi in Oji River Local Government Area, Obiyo said the facility will serve as isolation centre for any suspected case of Covid 19 in the state.


“NSCDC has putting this facilities in place to combat the virus in the advent of its outbreak in the state even though we are not praying for that.


” I want to assure Enugu residents that we have the facilities such as ventilators, temperature gauge at the centre”, he said.


Obiyo noted that the command has provided necessary logistics needed for the centre to function effectively, adding that additional logistics will soon arrive the centre.


On the location of the centre, the NSCDC boss disclosed that the command have enough operational vehicles to convey suspected persons to centre, saying it will deploy more vehicles if need be.


“Distance will not be a barrier to convene anyone suspected to have contacted the virus to the centre as we have enough operational vehicles at our disposal”, he said.


He further revealed that about three hundred trained officers of the command have already been deployed to manage the isolation centre in Achi.


Obiyo pointed out that the command set up the facility to complement the efforts of the state government in containing the spread of Coronavirus.


He also urged the public to maintain environmental cleanliness and observe personal hygiene by washing their hands and using hands sanitizer regularly to avoid contacting the dreaded corona virus.
