NSCDC deploys 600 personnel in Edo to ensure crime free Eid-el-fitri

Edo state Command Public Relations Officer, Mr Efosa Ogbebor, in a statement disclosed on FridayThe Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has deployed 600 personnel in Edo to ensure a crime-free Eid-El-Fitri celebration in the state.

Ogbebor said that the action was also to ensure the safety of lives and property as well as ensure free flow of traffic during the period.

He said that the personnel had been deployed to all identified flash points across the state..

The spokesman said that measures had been put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 within the period.

He emphasised that prayers at Eid grounds remain banned, while prayers to be held in Mosques should not have more than 20 persons in attendance.

Ogebor emphasised the need for all to adhere to measures by the government to curtail the spread of COVID-19, while urging residents of the state to be law abiding.

The Federal Government had on Thursday declared Monday and Tuesday as public holidays to mark 2020 Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
