North Wants Kwankwaso as FCT Minister, Gaya as Senate Leader – Aide

Some internal wrangling are already brewing with the All Progressives Congress (APC) ranks over sharing formula for the incoming administration.

An aide to Kano State governor on Political Affairs, Alhaji Mujahid Zetawa who spoke to Daily Times disclosed that the alleged plans to install wide of National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu as Senate Leader is in the bad taste, a move which would be resisted by northern elements within the party.

Alh. Zetawa also maintained that experienced politicians like Sen. Kabiru Gaya deserve key positions in the new dispensation and not appendages of some political godfathers.  The aide believed that Sen. Gaya would make a good Senate Leader while his principal, Governor Kwankwaso would be fit for FCT minister.

In the words of the aide, “The Yoruba are trying to take over key positions in the country from the house of Reps to the senate without giving any serious seat to the North.

People like Senator Kabiru Gaya who has played a significant role in the senate and an old senator should be given key position in the senate “not bringing someone from the North Central Zone who we know will dance to the tune of the Yoruba people” he said.

Zetawa also recalled that Sen. Gaya chairman of Presidential Task Team on Pension Reforms, led by Abdulrasheed Maina of the for embezzling N32 billion meant for pensioners.

The governor’s aide, who frowned at the manner in which the South West members of the APC are trying to take all juicy appointments inj the new dispensation says, “The development obviously shows that the Yoruba people had a hidden agenda right from the beginning unlike the Northern people whom interest was to bring about changes in the country’s democracy but the current trend of events is really disappointing.”
