NOA Urges Orderliness, Peaceful Polls On Feb. 23, March 9 Elections
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Gombe State has
advised electorate to come out en masse to cast their votes peacefully and orderly in the Presidential and National Assembly (NASS)
elections on Saturday. Nigerians would go to the polls in a rescheduled Presidential and NASS elections on Saturday, and go for governorship and
state assembly elections on March 9. Mrs Adaline Patari, the acting NOA Director in Gombe State, made the call during a chat with Newsmen on Friday in Gombe. She said “I urge all eligible electorate to be peaceful and orderly at the polls on Saturday. Though the elections were postponed
from the earlier fixed date of Feb. 16 and March 2, Nigerians should not be discouraged but remain hopeful.
“We are also calling on the electorate not to sell their votes to politicians or their agents.
“If you sell your votes, that means you have sold your future and the future of your children.”
Patari appealed to politicians to desist from using youths to cause violence for the seek of peace and development of the state
and the country at large.
She also urged the public to desist from spreading fake news, especially of the election results, to ensure peace after the elections.
She advised that “after the announcement of results, winners, losers and supporters should accept it in good faith,
congratulate the winner and conduct yourselves peacefully.”
She urged all to allow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to perform its function of announcing election
results without hinderance.
Patari called on religious and traditional rulers to continue to sensitise the public to avoid violence during and after the
