NO EXTRA SUPREME COURT JUSTICES – CJN

The 17 justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria are enough for now, the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Samuel Onnoghen, declared on Monday. Onnoghen said the appointment of more judges and justices and the creation of more judicial divisions of the courts were not the solutions to judicial delay and court congestion.
He spoke at the commissioning of the re-modeled and upgraded Court of Appeal, Lagos complex. The event was attended by Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Oluranti-Adebule, who represented Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
