NNPC petrol pipeline leakage at Isheri finally confirmed

On Sunday, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service verified the leakage of petrol from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Atlas Cove-Mosimi System 2B Pipeline at Isheri in the local government area of Alimosho.
The development was confirmed by Mrs Margret Adeseye, Acting Head, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, in a statement signed by Mr Jamiu Dosunmu, spokesperson for the fire service, after visiting the scene.
Adeseye was quoted as saying that a distress call from Peace Estate residents was received by the fire service at approximately 5.41 am after Petrocam Bus Stop in Isheri.

She added that Ikotun Fire Station’s firemen were mobilised to the scene quickly.
“On getting there, it was discovered that Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) was gushing out from the pipeline linking Isheri to Igando and environs of Alimosho,’’ she said.
As gathered by Daily Times, Adeseye said the NNPC pumping operations had been suspended to forestall any incident.
She added that firemen were putting the situation under control while the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel were providing security in the area.
Adeseye, however, advised members of the public, particularly, residents within these corridors, not to make open fire along these areas in order to avert danger pending the conclusion of the repair works by NNPC.
