NNL: Heartland won’t surrender top spot—Ubido

Heartland captain and utility player, Julius Ubido has said his side are not in a hurry to relinquish the top spot of the second tier league.
The Naze Millionaires are hosts of Akwa Starlets in today’s Nigeria National League (NNL) matchday 13 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
Ubido said his side have put behind them the state FA Cup loss to non-league side, Sam Daddy FC to concentrate on the Starlets’ clash aimed at extending their six-match unbeaten record.
“Of course, we are not ready to let go the top spot in a hurry we are determined to do the needful to stay right there.
“We know it’s quite easy to climb to the summit but quite harder to sustain the height but with hard work we will maintain the status quo.
“The FA Cup loss to Sam Daddy FC is behind us as we want to continue the fine run on the league from where we stopped in the last game against Unicem Rovers.
“Of course, the loss will have nothing to do with our performance in the league especially the midweek clash against Akwa Starlets.
“That was a match we have no business to lose but football at times could be funny that’s why we have quickly erased the sad story off our minds.
“We have been unbeaten in the last six matches we want to further extend the enviable record to Akwa Starlets,” said the former Lobi Stars midfielder to supersport.com.
The Owerri outfit are at the summit of NNL southern conference log on 23 points from possible 33 points in the 11-week old league.
