NLNG, highest corporate tax payer in Nigeria – MD

The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) has disclosed that it paid over $4 billion as education and corporate income tax between 2014 and 2015, thereby becoming recognised as a global LNG company flying Nigerian flag worldwide.
The managing director, Nigeria LNG limited, Tony Attah made this disclosure at the public presentation of the 2016 winner of the Nigeria prize for literature award in Abuja yesterday.
“We have a viable corporate social responsibility footprint, both in our local Operation environment, boarder country, and the Nigeria prize for literature remains one of the flagship aspects of our major program.
“NLNG has proved that the rightful place for Nigeria and indeed Nigerians remain up with the very best, and that is why the NLNG instituted the prize for science and the Nigerian prize for literature to further reinforce the fact that what is good for business is also good for Nigerians.
“with the support of eminent advisory board and judges, we found a worthy winner and ambassador for 2016 in Abubakar Adam Ibrahim, author of the winning entry, “Season of Crimson Blossoms”, he said.
He described the story as compelling as the issues he very artfully weaved together in the “season of crimson blossoms” having believed that literature is a subject and an environment which should have no barriers especially those that are erected on ethnic, sectional or religious foundations.
Other program embarked upon by the NLNG included an initiative created to support teaching and research in which it has built and equipped state of the art engineering laboratories in six selected universities from Nigeria’s geo political zones at the cost of $12M, provision of scholarships to thousands of Nigerians at post primary, undergraduate, and post graduate levels, as well as training over 600 Nigerians in ship building technology in both south Korea and Nigeria; also the construction of 6 new modern LNG.
