Nigeria’s Arik Air resumes flight

Nigeria’s biggest airline, Arik Air, says it has resumed flights following a deal to end a strike that grounded many of its flights yesterday, leaving thousands of local and foreign passengers stranded.

Aviation unions called the strike on Tuesday to demand that the company pay them seven months’ salary arrears.

Arik said in a statement that the dispute had been resolved following mediation by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The airline added it had provided bigger planes to cope with the backlog of passengers whose flights were affected by the strike.
