Nigerians poorer, more insecure under Buhari – Atiku

Akam James, Yenagoa

Former Vice President of Nigeria and the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has accused the current administration under the leadership of President Muhammad Buhari, of impoverishing the country with poor economic policies, noting that more children are born on daily basis into poverty. Atiku, who could barely speak for three minutes due to the rains, said Nigerians were not better off under the Muhammad Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the people were getting poorer and more in-secured under the present administration. While thanking the people of the state for keeping faith with the PDP, Atiku said he was not in the state to campaign but to pay his tributes to the people of Bayelsa for their unflinching support and loyalty to the PDP over the years. Atiku said: “This election that is coming is about the future of our country and the future of our youths and women. When APC came to power, they promised three things; they promised to repair the economy to make it better than what the PDP did but they have made it worse. They promised to fight corruption but today Transparency International says we are more corrupt than when the PDP were in power. They say they came to secure Nigeria but today there is insecurity in North East, North Central and North West. Are we secured? So I appeal to you to voting for the PDP.” In his remark former President Goodluck Jonathan, said Atiku is a man who loves the Ijaw people and the best candidate who will unite the country, and the kind of man who Bayelsans could die for. He also stated that political office is for the use of the people and service not to suffer the people, adding that Atiku, is a man that has confidence on the people of the Niger-Delta. In his remark, the national chairman of the PDP Prince Uche Secondus described President Buhari as a dictator and a chameleon for sacking the head of another arm of Government without following due process. He also noted that the President was against the constitution of the country, adding that he has continue to further divide the country by causing more hunger and killings in the country. Also speaking Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, described the PDP presidential candidate as a man who understands the problems and challenges of Bayelsa state and the Niger Delta, stressing that Atiku understands what restructuring means which is what the people of the region was clamouring for. He averred that PDP is Bayelsa, and Bayelsa is PDP, by the grace of God he will be sworn in our President few months after the elections.
