Nigeria third-tier league shun kick-off

Nigeria third-tier league, Nationwide League One (NLO), have joined the Nigeria National League (NNL) and the women’s league in demanding for elections to their management board before the league could begin.
The committee set up by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to look at the governing structure of the NLO met in Abuja last week with the club representatives also going along with the position of the NNL and the women’s league that elections be conducted before the league could start.
The new NLO season was originally slated to kick off later this month.
The Nigeria third-tier league has about 157 registered clubs, but it was gathered that less than a dozen of these clubs have so far registered for the new season.
The majority of the NLO clubs has demanded for accountability and a more transparent management of their affairs.

Last week, a newly formed Nigeria National League Club Owners and Managers Association (NALCOM) declared the new NNL season will not begin until elections to the board of the country’s second-tier championship.
