Niger NLC calls on Gov to reshuffle cabinet

The Niger state chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has called on governor Abubakar Sani Bello, to, as a matter of urgency, reshuffle his cabinet due to its numbers of sycophants and unproductive members.

Chairman of the state chapter of the congress, Comrade Yahaya Idris Ndako, while addressing the workers in Minna to celebrate the workers day, hinted that the NLC has no problem with the state government but its aides who are not doing the right thing by not telling the governor the true situation of things.

He noted that salary of workers is a right and decried a situation whereby they are being subjected to untold hardship.

He further lamented the non-payment of pensions and gratuities to retirees and therefore called for the allocation of N200 million from the over N400million monthly Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) for such payment. He also advocated for the constitution of a Board of Trustee for its effective and efficient management.

Comrade Ndako rejected the new executive bill sent to the state assembly on the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

In his speech, the state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, said that his administration is not unaware of the skepticism and apprehension of the civil servants in the state and promised that the welfare of workers would be given the required priority.

Represented by the Secretary of State Government (SSG), Hon. Ibrahim Isah Ladan, the governor stated that the state government will continue to pay its 10.5 percent and 7.5 percent of workers in to the CPS while calling for dialogue in resolving matters between government and the organized labour.
