NHRC tasks on issues of missing persons: FG

The Acting Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Mrs. Oti Ovrawah has charged the federal government to pay attention to the issues of missing persons in Nigeria and the rights of their families to know the fate of their loved ones.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja at the official handing over of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipments worth millions by International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) led by Mr.Eloi Fillion, she said the donation should be a wakeup call to the government to know that everyone was concerned about the whereabouts of the missing people in the country.
On her part, the National Technical Committee Chairperson, Mrs. Maryam Uwais called on government to commit the necessary resources towards ensuring that the pilot stage of the database takes off as soon as possible.
The ICRC head of Department, Mr, Eloi Fillion said these in his conclusion that “ his organization will support Nigeria to have a reliable database of the missing person in the country.
