NHRC to FG: apprehend all killers now

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called on the Federal Government to apprehend and prosecute all those fingered in serial killings across the country including criminal gangs and herdsmen operating under various guises, in order to avert further breakdown of law and order.
The human rights watchdog in a statement signed by Fatima Mohammed Agwai, the Acting Executive Secretary, the commissions head of Media Mrs. Oti Ovrawah described the recent killings across the country as a destruction of what binds the citizens together as human beings and called on security agencies to as a matter of urgency and in the overall interest of peace, unearth all the perpetrators of the killings which have left many families without their loved ones.
Mrs. Ovrawah said these killings have no place in the society and that government has a duty to guarantee the right to life of every person in Nigeria.

She cited the incident in Benue state where hundreds of youths took to the streets to protest the killings that took place in various parts of the State hence urged the security services to firm up their strategies with new dynamics on tackling these challenges.
She advised the Federal and the relevant State Governments to ensure that the perpetrators were arrested and brought to justice to serve as a deterrent to others.
