NGO warns against fake admissions into Nursing schools

A non-governmental organization, Nursing World Nigeria has warned prospective students into nursing schools to beware of fake admissions into nursing schools and fake auxiliary training schools.
Speaking through the professional nursing body, one of the Directors, Mr Tony Nwaobi said the fake schools offering admission into nursing schools are not allowed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
“If these individuals are being trained for one year and placed in hospitals, it increases the risk to the general public and patients who visit those hospitals for care.
“According to the Nigerian Law, it’s criminal to train or create any form of institution to train Nurses except duly accredited by NMCN. Only NMCN is allowed to train Nurses or University approved by National Universities Commission (NUC) and NMCN.”
He said any student who wants to buy a School of Nursing form should get it either from a school of Nursing or any University that runs Nursing Sciences.
“The schools always sell their forms every year, they don’t sell any form online or ask you to make payments to a personal account. There is no such thing as Auxiliary School of Nursing. This is not allowed by the NMCN and hospitals training auxiliaries are breaking the law.
“Some of the schools send their advert information to us at Nursing World Nigeria on sales amount and deadline to us which we post online for them,” he said.
