NDE seeks stakeholders support for trainees

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has appealed to Government and Stakeholders to support the directorate in establishing beneficiaries of schemes initiated by the body.
The Acting Director GeneralMr Olakunle Obayan, made the appeal recently in Makurdi while launching the Environment Beautification Training Scheme.
“The astronomical nature of unemployment growth and dwindling economic fortunes of the country makes it impossible for NDE to tackle the programmes alone,”he said.
Obayan called on unemployed and retirees to embrace the vast programmes of the directorate in order to improve on their income.
“I urge owners of medium and small businesses where the beneficiaries will be posted for training to nurture and mentor them to be fully established as entrepreneurs,” he said.
Obayan said that master trainers should transfer the required technology to beneficiaries of the programmes through quality training.
“The calibre of trainees you develop and produce will largely depend on the quality of training you are able to impart to them’’, he said.
The NDE Coordinator in the state, Alhaji Lasisi Ayodele, said that the objective of the programme was to train youths on ways to make the environment beautiful.
He said that the training would last for three months and 25 unemployed youths would be trained on hard and soft land scalping.
“The target groups for this training are mostly school leavers or drop-outs who indicate interest.
“The prospective trainees were carefully screened and selected from among the hundreds that indicated interest,’’ he said.
Ayodele advised the trainees to make good use of the opportunity and come out better equipped so that they could train others and reduce unemployment.
