NCS advocates investment in IT as enabler for national security
… announces NCS conference 2016
As nations are investing in Information Technology (IT) in the in the 21st century as the key enabler for national security, theNigeria Computer Society (NCS) has advocated the usage of IT in security needs to be improved through more widespread adoption of IT professionalism in the private and public sectors.
This remark was made by the Prof. Adesola Aderounmu, President Nigeria Computer Society, (NCS) during a press conference held in Lagos today to announce the upcoming NCS conference taking place on Tuesday 19th to Thursday 21st of July in Abuja with the theme “Information Technology for National Safety and Security”.
Aderounmu disclosed that the theme is apt due to the security challenges facing the nation, adding that NCS has assembled an impressive line-up of leading researchers, entrepreneurs, educators, industry experts, thought leaders, international scholars and subject matter experts to share their extensive knowledge and experience on the themes. Sub themes, including the Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship platform (YIEP) which has been endorsed by the global IFIP International Young ICT Group.
According to him, NCS and its members can play a major role in improving the state of security nationwide; combating terrorism; enhancing public service delivery; accountability; boosting job creation; building a digital, prosperous; inclusive and secure Nigeria that leverage on IT to achieved the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
High dignitaries expected to grace the event include: Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, Minister of Communication, Barr. Adebayo Shittu, President –elect, Mike Hinchey.
Other guest speakers who have confirmed attendance for the conference includes Aliyu A. Aziz – DG, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC); Air Vice Marshal T. V.
