NCDC confirms 260 new cases of COVID-19

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Sunday, announced 260 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 12,486.
Abia State recorded the highest daily figure on Sunday with 67 infections, more than quadruple its initial 16 infections since February. However, Lagos State remains the epicentre for the disease.

Twelve deaths were recorded from the virus on Sunday bringing the total number of confirmed deaths from the virus to 354.
There was a decrease in the number of infections reported on Sunday (260) compared to Saturday (389).
The agency in a tweet late Sunday night said the 260 new cases were reported in 18 states – Abia, Lagos, Ogun, Gombe, Edo, Imo, Kwara, Katsina, Nasarawa, Borno, Kaduna, Bauchi, Ekiti, Niger, Ondo, Plateau, Kano and Sokoto in addition to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“Till date, 12, 486 cases have been confirmed, 3959 cases have been discharged and 354 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory”, it said.
The 260 new cases are reported from 19 states- Abia – 67, FCT – 40, Lagos – 38, Ogun – 19, Gombe – 16, Edo – 14, Imo – 9, Kwara – 8, Katsina – 8, Nasarawa – 8, Borno – 8, Kaduna – 6, Bauchi – 5, Ekiti – 4, Niger – 2, Ondo – 2, Plateau – 2, Kano – 2, and Sokoto – 2.
So far, only one state in the country, Cross River, is yet to report a case of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government says it discharged 31 coronavirus patients on Sunday, bringing the total number of patients successfully treated to 1,025 so far.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced this in a statement in Lagos.
“Good people of Lagos, today, 31 fully recovered COVID-19 Lagos patients; 25 males and six females were discharged from the Onikan, Gbagada, Agidingbi, Lekki and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Isolation facilities to reunite with the society.
“’The patients, six from Onikan, four from Gbagada, two from Agidingbi, six from Lekki and 13 from LUTH Isolation Centres were discharged having fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19.
“’With this, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases that have been successfully managed and discharged in Lagos has risen to 1025,’’ Sanwo-Olu said.
