Native doctor, prophet arrested for using children for ritual in Lagos

It was the end of the road for two notorious kidnappers cum ritualist, Tunde Ajibolorunsoro and Tajudeen Aremu, who specialise in kidnapping infants and Young persons for ritual purposes in the Miran area of Lagos.

The 57 year old Ajibolorunsoro (aka professor) who claimed to be a prophet was allegedly arrested over his involvement in the kidnap of one five year old Aishat Yekini in Miran.

Upon his arrest, he had confessed to have also kidnapped and sold three other children to Aremu (aka Oluwo) who is a native and his neighbour who uses the children for ritual.

According to the Commissioner of Police who paraded the suspects at the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja on Monday, Ajibolorunsoro sells the kidnapped children for N60,000 each.

The state police chief sad, ” one Yekini Muyidin had reported a case of kidnap of five year old Aishat Yekini and immediately, operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) swung into action and two suspects were arrested. Investigations had revealed that he sold the child for N60,000.”

Ajibolorunsoro however denied the allegation saying he is been falsely accused.

He said, ” I was sitting outside my house when I saw people going around saying they were looking for a child.

At about 11pm, I went inside my house to sleep but shortly after I had gone inside, I was greeted the flash of a torchlight.

I quarried the person who was pointing the torchlight to my window and they said they are looking for a child.

I asked them if they had gone to the police to report the missing child and they said yes.

I went back to sleep and in the morning the people came again to my house, they insisted on searching my entire house which I didnt object and even men from the Miran police Division came and also carried out their own search and then they arrested me that i am a suspect in the case. I was also taken to SARS.

I was tortured and out of confusion I told them I had sold three children. I am not a kidnapper,” He said.

Also Aremu who is the receiver distanced himself from the allegation. The native doctor said, “I have know Tunde for over ten years as a prophet in the neighbourhood but i never knew his house.

“I was in my house when the police came to pick me that Ajibolorunsoron had confessed to have been selling children to me for ritual purposes.

I have never bought or sold any child for ritual. I don’t know what they are talking about.”

It was also gathered that the duo belong to same confraternity.

CP Edgal said investigations are still ongoing and that when completed, the suspects will be charged to court.
