National grid to get additional 40mw, says FG

The Federal Government says it will soon add over 40 mega watts of power as part of its effort to achieve its roadmap on incremental, stable and uninterrupted power supply across the country.

This, the government said, is for the implementation of Power Sector Recovery Programmer (PRSR), which has received a boost beginning from 24th November, 2017.

The ministry in a statement signed by its Deputy Director, Mrs. Etore Thomas, said the move initialed the 40MW Dadinkowa Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), with Mabon Power Limited, (PPA), for the Dadinkowa Mini Hydro Power Project in Yamaltu Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The ministry, while assuring the company of government’s support and urging other investors to emulate Mabon Power Limited, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET), Dr. Marilyn Amobi stated that with this initialization, the company would accelerate the completion of the project that would eventually add about 40mw to the National Grid.

Responding, the Project Development Consultant, Mabon Power Limited, Christopher Cyril commended NBET; and assured the government that the project would be completed on schedule.

He further disclosed that the project has reached 80% completion, saying, with the initialization of the PPA, the company would seek for more financial viability to complete it.
