NAPTIP investigates reports of human trafficking in Oyo–D-G

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) says it is investigating reports of human trafficking in Oyo state.

Director General of NAPTIP, Mrs. Julie Okah-Donli, said this in an interview on Thursday in Abuja.

Okah-Donli, who said the agency is aware of reports of endemic human trafficking in the state, added that efforts were already on to investigate the reports.

On the proposed plan of the agency to establish task forces against human trafficking in the 36 states of the federation, Okah-Donli stated that the agency has fully commenced work on the initiative.

She said that the task forces have already been established in states like Delta, Ondo and Ekiti to serve as watchdogs on human trafficking issues and take necessary steps against the menace.

“The next state we are touching now is Borno. We are sure to complete the setting up of these task forces in the 36 states before the end of 2020.

“We are calling on the general public to report to the agency cases of human trafficking and child labour in their vicinity. We are going to take it up when such cases are reported to us,” she said.
