My criteria for picking artists – Chippy Toye, CEO Chippy Record
As the brain behind fast rising music record label, Chippy Records, Okedara Ibitoye Ezekiel better known Chippy Toye has enlisted the criteria he looks out for before picking and signing an artiste.
“The criteria for signing up talents to Chippy Records are good character, humility and loyalty. It is not just about singing or entertaining people, it is also about being relevant and these qualities will help one achieve that.
Our new artiste, Dagizah has proven himself to have these qualities, which earned him a deal in Chippy Records. I found out he is a pure talent, so I decided to support him,” he stated in a recent interview.
Speaking about the development within the label since it was founded, Chippy Toye affirmed that there is yet only one artiste in the stable of Chippy Records. “Abubakar Abdullah, professionally called Dagizah is the first and only artiste yet signed under the management of Chippy Records,” he confirmed.
The record label boss has some words of advice for aspiring musicians: “Hard work is a currency you can always trade for anything, stick and stay loyal to the game, and there would always be better days ahead, as you create them.”
Harping on the importance of marketing to the career of young musicians, Chippy Toye further averred: “Making good music isn’t enough. up-and-coming artistes should learn the music business too, or find an expert that will help them with the marketing aspect of their artistry.”
Looking ahead, the music business executive spoke about taking his record label to great heights in the next 10 years. “Chippy Record’s growth is amazing through this first one year of establishment, and we would always work to get the brand amongst one of the best in the country and beyond in 10 years or less, that’s the future I see,” he stated.
