Muslims tasked on personal hygiene to avoid diseases
Kano State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso has stressed the need for personal and environmental hygiene during the Eid-id Kabir festive period.
This was contained in a press statement made available to news men on Tuesday by the Public Relation Officer, (PRO) Kano State Ministry of Health, Ismaila Gwammaja.
The call, according to the Commissioner, became imperative in view of the fact that the state recently recorded cases of cholera and diarrhoea out breaks which claimed 28 lives.
Also, the state is presently experiencing rainy season, another reason why people must take precautionary measures while slaughtering and preparing their sacrificial animals in order to avoid contamination which could result to outbreak of cholera and its kind.
The Commissioner, further enjoined the people to wash their hands with soap before handling food or meet during the Sallah period and beyond, stressing that waste products from slaughtered animals must be properly buried to keep away from homes, rodents and other reptiles that have the potential of spreading bacteria and virus to the humans.
He urged the general public to visit nearest health facilities in the event of any illness and desist from the habit of staying at home till the situation worsened, which often leads to complications and loss of lives.
He added that, the state government under Ganduje has put in place every necessary mechanism, needed to safeguard the health and lives of its teeming populace.
