Mob beats suspected wizard in Delta community

A middle -aged man identified as Sunday Omoroh was in the early hours of Thursday beaten to stupor and inflicted with a deep machete cuts by a mob in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government rea of Delta state after allegedly confessing to been a wizard.
It was gathered that the man was spotted in the early hours completely naked and squatting by the entrance of a neighbour’s house and upon interrogation, confessed that he was on his way to the coven with others in the same flight when a heated argument ensued among them and in the process, he was overpowered and flung down by his fellow wizards.
Sources said the victim affirmed that he fell from the flight conveying them to where they normally meet and suddenly saw himself in a place which he described as strange.
He pleaded with the now restive and angry crowd to give him food to eat because he was hungry.
Speaking to our reporter, an eyewitness, Mercy Ejiro, said she was attracted by the sound of someone banging on her gate and on opening the gate, she saw a weird looking figure at the entrance into her compound.
“Immediately, l alerted my neighbours who came out, but to our surprise, the man disappeared,” adding that some hours later, she saw the same weird looking man begging for food, “but this time, he was covered with blood stains all over his body and after he was attacked by a mob.”
But, the acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Chucks Orisewezie, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said that the victim acted in a suspicious manner and had been involved in strange occurences within the community.
He added that investigation was on going to know the true identity of the alleged wizard.
