Minister warns neighbouring states against deface Abuja

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has challenged states sharing boundary with the FCT to take advantage of their proximity with Abuja to develop the neighboring towns.
The Minister gave this challenge when the Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Usman Yamusa led a high powered delegation of the Keffi Traditional Council to visit him in his office in Abuja.
Malam Bello urged the states to use the direct exchange of persons and businesses between these communities to ensure rapid economic and infrastructural development of the neighboring towns.
The Minister remarked that Keffi as an emirate and as a city has served to ease the pressure on Abuja by providing accommodation and hospitality to the numerous staff of government and private organizations who commune from those areas to Abuja City Centre every morning and return in the evening.
Malam Bello reiterated the need for Keffi and other neighboring towns or cities to enjoy tremendous benefits from those exchanges, which definitely can be translated into economic and social benefits.
He said that the history of the FCT Administration would not be complete without mentioning a number of persons who have worked and continued to work for the Administration from these states; adding that FCTA will support the Nasarawa State government and other bordering communities very near to the city based on available resources, to ease some of the pressures on them.
His words: “Your Emirate has provided food for the capital city through the various activities of agriculture in your domain. I’m raising all these as means of encouragement to you to know that people usually bring about development.
“So, if you continue with your open door policy and you make people within your Emirate feeling that they are at home, by the grace of God, they will provide you development and communal expansion.”
Responding, the Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Usman Yamusa assured the Minister of the continued support of the people and Keffi Emirate Council; saying, “at any time, we are there for you and we hope you will also be there for us.”
