Mikel jets in for ‘Operation crush Pharaohs’

Chelsea midfielder Mikel arrived the Super Eagles training camp in Abuja from his London base on Monday morning.

Officials revealed that Mikel is now the fourth foreign-based pro to hit the training camp ahead of Friday’s must-win AFCON 2017 qualifier against Egypt, tagged as ‘Operation crush Pharaohs’.

The other pros already in Abuja are Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi, Umar Aminu, who is based in Turkey, and Portugal-based Shehu Abdullahi.

Nigeria U-23 forward Aminu has yet to be capped by the country at full international level.

More foreign pros called up for the qualifiers are due in later.

Today, the squad will move to match venue Kaduna, which is about 200 kilometres by road from Abuja.

Friday’s clash will kick off at 4pm local time at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.
