Messi, Alexis or Cuadrado? Vote for the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Week, presented by Nissan!

There were a selection of brilliant goals scored all around Europe, with the competition fierce to claim the second award of the season

Lionel Messi is in line to win the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Week, presented by Nissan, for the second of his three goals for Barcelona on Wednesday.

The Argentine international netted his sixth of the campaign to go top of the goalscoring charts with a splendid hat-trick that inspired his side to a 4-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Barca pounced on a mistake in the City midfield before Messi cut inside and sent an unstoppable low shot past Willy Caballero from outside the penalty area.

He will face stiff competition from Arsenal’s Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez, however, who set the Gunners on their way to a 6-0 demolition of Ludogorets with a stunning chip over goalkeeper Vladislav Stoyanov.

Another South American up for the gong is Colombia’s Juan Cuadrado, who earns a nomination for his ferocious near-post finish that gave Juventus all three points in Lyon.

Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez could cause an upset, however, with his wonderfully-disguised finish in his side’s 5-1 win over Legia while Miguel Layun staked his claim with a spectacular long-range strike in Porto’s 2-1 victory against Club Brugge.
