Man jailed for defiling minor

A young man, Ibrahim Abu, has been sentenced to a year imprisonment by an Ikeja magistrate court for an offence he committed against a minor on the 23 May, 2016, at Baale bus stop area, Egbeda.
The magistrate, Mrs. Osusanmi, sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment for indecent touching of a minor against her will and six months for assault. The accused, Ibrahim, who pleaded guilty to the charges read against him at the court, agreed to have harassed and assaulted Dolapo Sanni, 17.
Dolapo narrated her ordeal that started by 7.30 p.m. on her way back from work with her friend to Daily Times. She said Ibrahim who was standing by the roadside touched her breast while she was getting down from a pavement. Dolapo went ahead by saying, ‘I was shocked so I slapped him in defence. Immediately, he started beating me, I tried withdrawing myself from him but to no avail. After a while I was finally successful and was leaving the scene’.
Almost in tears, she said, ‘Unknown to me, he already picked a plank and the next thing I felt was a heavy plank at my back then I passed out’.
When she was finally conscious but was leaping after being helped by her friend to her Grandma’s house. The victim reported the case to the police station and was taken to the hospital where she was admitted. The case was taken up by the I.P.O and a human right activist, leading to the arrest of Ibrahim.
