Man beats policeman in Osun

A 35-year old man, Oladipupo Joseph was yesterday arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly beating and injuring a policeman, Balogun Idris.

Police prosecutor, Ajayi Sunday told the court that Joseph attacked the policeman while he was performing his lawful duty and inflicted injuries on him.

He said the accused person also damage a leather belt valued N2,500 of the policeman.

He added that the offence committed by Joseph is contrary to and punishable under sections 355, 356 and 415 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.

In his plea, Joseph pleaded not guilty of the charge levelled against him. His counsel, Tunbosun Oladipupo also prayed the court to grant the accused person bail in the most lenient terms.

In her ruling, Magistrate Falilat Sodamade granted the accused person the bail of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till the 27th of April, 2017.
