Late Prince Audu’s brother joins Kogi senatorial race
As the race for Kogi East Senatorial district gathers momentum, younger brother of the former governor of Kogi state, Late Prince Abubakar Audu, Yahaya Audu has joined the race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing newsmen in Lokoja, Prince Yahaya Audu warned the leadership of the APC at the state and National levels to guide against marginalization and oppression, describing such tendencies inimical to the ideology of the APC.
Prince Yahaya called for a level playing field that would enable the best to emerge, and warned against imposition.
Yahaya equally kicked against anointing of candidate’s, advised that the delegates should be made to have freedom of choices, in a free, fair, credible and transparent primaries.
The aspirant lamented a situation where the Eastern Senatorial District has suffered underdevelopment which had made living an agony for majority of its citizenry.
While noting that the challenge facing the eastern senatorial district demands for collective responsibility, called on the people to rise up and provide a new concept of representation, adding that he has the will, vision to offer quality people oriented representation.
The aspirant blamed the backwardness of the district to several in effective representation in the past, which he noted has contributed immensely to the prevailing underdevelopment in the area,
added that his qualities of hard work, intelligence, network of vital international contacts and linkages, extensive experience, are capable of improving the welfare and fortunes of the people using the instrumentality of effective lawmaking.
He promised to use his exposure, to provide quality representation and render selfless service to the people of Kogi east senatorial district in a new concept of representation, towards sustainable development if elected.
Prince Yahaya assured of an agricultural and industrial revolution, saying he will through legislative engagement with relevant committees ensure that every local government in the district gets a study centre of the National Open University within his first one year, amongst others, towards bringing education closer to the people.
He promised to address the plight of rural women, youth through sustained economic empowerment and skill acquisition programmes to make them productive, sensitive, and the true leaders of tomorrow.
