Lasisi: Remo Stars deserve to be in the NPFL!
Remo Stars midfielder Saheed Lasisi has said that three points was the most important aspect of Sunday’s feat over Abia Warriors.
A late penalty from Victor Mbaoma was the tonic needed by Remo Stars to pick maximum points in a 1-0 win at the Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu.
Lasisi fondly known by his admirers as “Omo Alhaja”, said that the Sky Blue Stars showed their battling qualities at the Gateway International Stadium, which should stand them in good stead for their first Nigeria Professional Football League campaign.
“It was very special, but the most special thing was getting the three points,” Lasisi said.
“When you’re a promoted side you don’t want to wait too long to get points on the board so Sunday was a massive bonus for us.
“The coaches have been saying to us that we deserve to be in this league on merit. The did very well last season in the Nigeria National League and we’ve got to go out there and show everyone what we’re about.
“We’re going to be underdogs for a lot of the games this season but as we showed on Sunday, we’ve got the determination and hopefully that will see us through.”
