Lagos police begin arms, combat training for 110 DPOs, policemen

To improve the combat proficiency of operatives at the Lagos State Police Command, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu, has organized arms and combat training for the 110 Divisional Police Officers and policemen of the command.

It was gathered that the training which covers weapons handling, musketry, Baton and Rifle Exercise (BARE), combat operations, individual manoeuvre and range practice, commenced in April.

According to Odumosu, the training will last for another one month, as the manual for training is designed to inject new ideas into the officers and men of the command.

Odumosu further revealed that the training for the rank and file is in batches, as there was need to put them in tune with the re-designed Standard Operating Prosecure of the Nigeria Police Force.

He said: “Oficers and men in the command must embrace this initiative and be committed to the new policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, so as to maintain good service delivery in the state.

“We will pull all available resources together for the betterment of officers and men and the entire workforce of the command in Lagos State.”

The Commissioner of Police promised to regularly embark on training and retraining of officers and men of the command to bring out the best in them with a view to having better security system in Lagos State.
