Labour veterans back APC ahead Ondo guber poll

Retired Labour unionists in Ondo State have thrown their support behind the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the November 26, 2016 governorship election in the state.

The retirees, under the auspices of the ‘Labour Veterans’, based their reason for supporting the main opposition party in the state on the alleged refusal of the incumbent government to pay their pensioners and gratuities.

They lamented the sufferings their members are being subjected to by Dr. Olusegun Mimiko-led administration and recalled how they also contributed resources in ensuring his government was installed in the year 2009.

Speaking through the retirees, Pastor Oyekan Arije, a former Labour union leader in the State, said the labour veterans have decided to throw their weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

Arije, who spoke during a solidarity visit to the office of Mr. Isaac Kekemke, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, said the retired civil servants in the state have learnt their lessons and suffered enough under the present administration in power.

He expressed regret towards the current administration of Governor Olusegun Mimiko, and explained how his government had been suffering the retired civil servants in the state without paying their gratuities.

The ex- Labour union comrade also observed that never in the history of the state had civil servants undergone this type of turbulent situation, especially with their arrears not being paid.
