Labour minister cautions against internet job scam

Following persistent attempt by fraudsters to swoop on unsuspecting job-seekers,  the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, has cautioned job seekers to be vigilant not fall victim of job scams who peddled  fictitious schemes to lure unsuspecting members of the public to pay money into specified accounts for non-existing youth empowerment programmes.

The Minister warned the public not to allow themselves to be swindled by fraudsters who are out to dupe unsuspecting job seekers.

Ngige who made this caution in  a statement issued and signed by the ministry’s  Deputy Director Press, Samuel Olowookere and made available to journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.

The statement read thus; “The attention of the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige has been drawn to series of fraudulent online claims of partnership between the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, African Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and Central Bank of Nigeria, to commence “Empowerment of 100,000 Nigerians and disbursement of 3 million Naira each to eligible Nigerians on empowerment programme.”

Ngige further stated that “The Ministry therefore uses this medium to dissociate itself from these phony collaborations with the Islamic Development Bank Initiative, African Development Bank and Central Bank of Nigeria. We wish to further warn the general public that anybody who does any form of transaction with these self-acclaimed promoters of Development and empowerment Initiative does so at his or her own detriment.
