Kwara indigenes cry out over alleged marginalisation

The people of Ilorin East local government area of Kwara state have cried out over a plot to deny their sons and daughters the opportunity of participating in the ongoing recruitment exercise in the Nigeria Immigration Service.

They alleged that Ilorin East was excluded from the list of local government areas in Kwara state where eligible candidates can apply for the advertised vacancies in the Immigration Service.

They noted that 15 of the 16 local government areas from the state were listed and that Oro town which is a part of Irepodun local government area was erroneously listed as a full fledged local council.

The people of Ilorin East local government made their feelings known in a statement signed by Alh Abdullahi Laaro and Alh Ibrahim Salman.

The convened citizens appealed to the state government to intervene on behalf of the indigenes of the council.

They equally appealed to the Immigration Service and the Federal ministry of Interior to correct the anomaly in the list of local government from Kwara state by listing Ilorin East as one of the 16 LGs.

They asked the agitated youths in the area to remain calm, saying that everything humanly possible would be done to redress the situation.

They acknowledged the state government’s contributions to the development of the area and expressed confidence that”our amiable Governor will not allow the NIS to shortchanged our teeming youths who are qualified to take up appointments at NIS.
