Kwara CNPP Endorses Gov Ahmed Re-Election Bid

The Congress of Nigeria’s Political Party (CNPP), Kwara State Chapter, on Monday, said it was in support of the re-election bid by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the April 11 elections.

The chairman of the body, Alhaji Adebayo Lawal, announced this at news conference held at the Nigerian Union Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, in Ilorin.

Lawal, who was also the State Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), was joined by the governorship candidates of about 13 other political parties in the state to declare their support for the APC in the forthcoming elections.

He said the support of the CNPP for APC candidates was informed by the outcomes of March 28, Presidential and National Assembly polls, in which APC emerged victorious.

“It is no longer news that General Muhammadu Buhari won the general election held on Saturday, March 28, and the incumbent President

Goodluck Jonathan had taken courageous decision to congratulate Buhari before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner”

“It is heart-warming and encouraging as Nigerians made their choice in a free and credible election, Buhari won, overwhelmingly,” Lawal said.

He described APC and its candidates as those to be beaten in the coming elections by virtue of trend of the previous ones.

He said the CNPP was taking the step in line with its perceived reason to be in the mainstream of the nation’s politics by ensuring that Governor Ahmed of the APC got re-elected in Kwara State.

Present on the occasion were chieftains of Action Alliance, Progressive Peoples Alliance, United Progressives Party, Social Democratic Party, United Democratic Party, Citizen Popular Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and African Congress of Democrats.
