Kogi women threaten to recall Melaye

WOMEN from across the seven local government areas in the Western Senatorial District of Kogi State have threatened to commence the process of recalling Senator Dino Melaye, if he fails to concentrate on the assignment given to him by the people of his constituency.

Addressing the media in Lokoja on Thursday, the spokesperson of the group, Malakwe Justina Ebunlowo, alleged that Senator Melaye had abandoned his duties as lawmaker, thereby dissipating his energy on trivialities.

She pointed out that the lawmaker has remained consistent in embarrassing the entire people of his constituency through relentless war with the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, describing the action as shameful and childish.

She added that for close to two years now since Senator Melaye was given the mandate by the people of his constituency, he cannot point at any meaningful development he had attracted to the area, stressing that they frowned at the senseless and aimless shot at the governor by the lawmaker.

The spokesperson alleged that Senator Melaye organized the armed attack against himself, so as to frame the governor, describing the accusation of thuggery against the administrator of
Ijumu local government, Hon. Taufiq Isa, by the lawmaker as laughable.

She described Hon. Isa as a complete gentleman who has proven his worth over the years, noting that he has teamed up with governor Bello in bringing development to Okunland.

She further condemned in strong terms the alleged importation of women from Ilorin, the Kwara State capital to stage protest in Aiyetoro-Gbedde, saying as highly dignified and honourable
personalities, they would never stoop so low to support a self serving individual.

While urging the entire Okun women not to fall for the antics of the lawmaker, she stressed the need for the people of the area to remain resolute and steadfast in supporting the New Direction government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
