Kogi APC youths reject Smart Adeyemi’s senatorial ambition

The Progressives Youth Forum, a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) of the Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency of Kogi state has demanded for the use of Direct Primaries in choosing all candidates that will represent them at all levels of election.
Addressing a press conference yesterday in Lokoja, Leader of the forum, Ahmed Adams warned APC leadership both at the state and federal levels not to succumb to the temptation of imposing candidates without recourse to direct primaries.
The forum said it was reacting to the recent endorsement of Senator Smart Adeyemi by the cronies of the governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello led by Speaker, Kogi state House of Assembly Hon. Mathew Kolawole.
They insisted that the only primary election that would be acceptable to them is direct primaries, threatening that any contrary option could jeopardise the fortunes of party come 2019 elections.
While rejecting any attempt at imposing Senator Adeyemi, the forum advised that the age long agreement of rotation of senate seat be respected to ensure equity and fairness among the constituents.
They said “We shall continue to remain peaceful and law abiding”, but with a warning that “failure to listen to our demand, we shall vehemently protest with our PVCs in 2019 and without stating the obvious, the result from the election will be catastrophic”.
