Katsina to address 17,000 housing deficit

Private developers are working in collaboration with the Katsina State Government to address the 17,000 housing unit deficits in the state.
The Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Tasiu Dandagoro, made this known to newsmen, on Thursday, at a media chat organised by state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ).
Like others states in the country, Katsina is faced with the problem of housing, especially among the civil servants.
Nationally, about 15 million to 17 million housing unit deficit exists, with more than N45 trillion needed to surmount the deficit.
The All Progressive Congress, (APC), at the national and states level had last year, indicated its willingness to address shortage of houses in the country.
As a way of addressing the deficit, the state government has gone into partnership with private developers for the construction of several number of houses in parts of the state.
Dandagoro said seven private developers had indicated interest and had forwarded proposals to partner with state government for construction of houses.
