Kano sanitation board gets N1.6b equipment

The Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) has disclosed that, soon, the problem of dumping refuse indiscriminately would be a thing of the past. The Managing Director of the Board, Group Captain (rtd) Muhammad Mahmoud, made the disclosure to the Daily Times during an interview at the board’s head office.

He said that the state government had approved the sum of N1.6 billion for the purchase of modern equipment and vehicles needed by the board for smooth operation, some of which were already available, while some vehicles in bad conditions had been repaired and that the board had introduce modern means of collecting refuse, which included designating special centres, where refuse of a particular area would be taken to for collection, placing waste buckets where necessary to prevent people from the traditional method as well as increasing the number of routine by the officers of the board.
