Kano sacks Health officials over rape, abortion, others

Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board has sacked three staff charged with rape, abortion and fraud following recommendation by disciplinary and advisory committee of the board.

A statement issued on Friday by the spokesman of the Board, Maikudi Marafa, said the decision was taken based on recommendations of governing board and disciplinary advisory committee constituted to investigate the matter.

According to him, the affected personnel include one with staff number KNLG 32323 from Kurnar Asabe Primary Health Care in Dala Local Government Area who was charged with committing rape in one of the health facility.

He said other health workers include those with staff numbers KNLG 09068 and KNLG 018423 from Gezawa Local Government Area found using staff information to obtain loan without their consent as well as another staff with number KNLG 04608 from Gwarzo Local Government Area who was charged with conducting private practice and abortion.

“PHCMB under Dr. Tijjani Usman will not condone any misconduct from any staff member. Staff are expected to carry out their responsibilities diligently, effectively and in accordance with the civil service rules and regulations”, the statement said.

The statement also urged health personnel especially those working under PHCMB to be of good character while executing their official duties.
